Do it well with optimism

July 16, 2008

I have tried many things in life, but failed miserably. For example, I wanted to master archery but dropped out in the end because I found it expensive to buy the equipment. However, I found the experience exhilarating. At least I know how the Olympics archers feel like. A powerful arm is definitely what I need to hold the bow steady, and of course, that steel of nerves under pressure.

At least I went for it. It was a dream to pull shoot an arrow when I was younger. Many people would not dare to try at all because they are afraid of failure. What I learn is nobody can prevent failure. One can only minimize failures, through proper planning. Even proper planning sometimes fails.

Doing something you plan for is a sacred responsibility. You want to get a good result in the end. That is why you do it and not wasting time.

Remember, you have to “do” it, not “try” it! There is a big difference.

To hit success, position yourself with successful people, no matter what area you are in. By doing this will generate positive attitude and great support from your team mates.

Then the simpler manner you access positive belief the better off you are. This usually entails a strong dose of self-confidence. A healthy dose of spirituality helps. It is easier if you use spiritual belief. Be spiritual.

Why? Mainly because faith and belief go hand in hand. Everything is laid out and structured for you. You don’t have to think about it or think up a system. Don’t let your brains and some “smart alecs” get in your way of achieving real success.

In another words, don’t over analyze. I remember a friend who over analyzed every plan we set up doing a college project. Every idea we threw up was shot to piece by his “what ifs, “what happens”, or “what’s the point of ….”. In the end, nothing progressed at all and we became on bad terms in the end. Of course, the end product was a shabby effort due to too much time wasted on drawing board level.

Finally, don’t let your ego be your enemy. Make it work for you, not against you. The same goes for fear. Make Mr. Fear be your ally not your enemy. Refocus your fears with a positive vision of yourself succeeding in your endeavors.
