Don’t Let Criticism Get You Down – stay positive
April 16, 2007
We have already been criticized and that is a common fact of life. I have been criticized repeatedly during my work too even though I think I do well there. I have always take it on the stride and remain cheerful. Criticism is never a good experience and if a person can be crushed if there is no strong will power. How to keep up a positive energy even in the midst of criticism? Well, there are two parts to this question:
1. Those who truly believe in you and want to help you.
These are your ‘supporters’ and their criticism can often times hurt you a lot because they are close to and have your respect. When those close to you give you constructive criticism, listen to what they have to say and if you feel like it is in your best interest then make any adjustments that they may give.
2. Those who don’t have your best interest at heart.
This type of criticism may bolt you up because it often comes from people whom you didn’t even know were paying attention to you. Occasionally, what they say might have some truth in it, but most of the time it’s best to not even pay attention to what they have to say.
In either of these cases, keep a positive attitude all the time and you will tide over the testing moments.
